  Abstract:  The antecedents of establishing the Hajdúdorog Eparchy. The Austro-Hungarian agreement in 1867 not only placed the political and social life in the new coordinates of dualism, but shaped and stimulated a number of projects regarding the Churches from the Empire. This study highlights key moments that have marked the Hungarian government policy towards the Greek Catholic Churches in dualistic Hungary. Considering the steps taken toward the construction of ecclesiastical structures designed to respond positively to the government attempts to integrate the inhabiting population in a single structure, the Hungarian. This study surveys the response of the Ruthenian and Romanian Greek Catholic communities to the Magyarization measures through the Church. The main focus is on Sătmar, being a key point area in the evolution of religious issues by the early Twentieth Century.
