Abstract:  “New Way of Ideas” and a New Political Philosophy. The present study is analyzing the connections between the political theory and the philosophy of John Locke. It begins with an examination of the relation which links morals, politics and epistemology in Locks thinking; after which it sets the analyze on the impact the general intellectual trends irradiated on Locke’s own political and philosophical perspective. A further point is a focus on the epistemological framework in which Locke raised up his own “new way of ideas”. The study results in considering the roots of Locke’s political philosophy in the nominalist traditions. This analyze is necessary in order to demonstrate that not only the Two Tracts on Government were a work of political theory and political philosophy, but that this work has consistent basis in the problems of the current traditions of epistemology and philosophy. This argument is favouring the thesis that The Two Tracts, even though they were the outset of an ideological commitment, they did not expouse a sheer ideology, but rather they were ment to give solutions to pressing political solutions in a way that even if new, it was deeply anchorred in a philosophical herritage.
