Abstract:
Bone is a composite material with a hierarchical structure. Human skeleton bones represent important resources for archeological investigations. This study reports preliminary results obtained by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance on two-millennia old human bone artifacts. Hydrogen, carbon and phosphorus analysis allow structural characterization, which could be further useful in assessment of burial/cremation religious ritual, preservation methods, as well as preservation environment. Keywords: solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, human bones, archaeology
