Abstract:   This study is focused on the structural, morphological and textural characterization of the (64-x)SiO2•(36-x)CaO•2xP2O5 bioactive glass system, where x=0, 1, 2 and 4 mol%. The obtained sol-gel samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), particle size distribution analysis and N2-sorption measurements. XRD patterns of the samples with phosphorus content show the presence of the tricalcium phosphate phase. It was found that by P2O5 addition, the mesopores diameter decreases below 10 nm and the pores become interconnected.
