Abstract:  The investigated samples belong to the xFe2O3(100-x)[3Bi2O32PbO] system (1 x  20 mol %) and were obtained by melting the suitable mixtures at 1100 0C for ten minutes in air, followed by fast undercooling to room temperature. The magnetic susceptibility, measured with a Faraday-type magnetic balance, may be described with a Curie – Weiss law for 5 x  20 mol % Fe2O3 and with a Curie-type law for x = 1mol % Fe2O3. Negative paramagnetic Curie temperatures have been found suggesting the antiferromagnetic nature of the magnetic interaction between the Fe ions in the studied samples. According to the magnetic moment values, calculated from the experimental data, the valence state of the Fe ions is changing from Fe3+ to Fe2+ as the concentration x increases from 1 to 20 mol % Fe2O3. The ratio Fe2+ / Fe3+ was determined for each sample.
