  Abstract:   Apatitic calcium phosphate samples were synthesised by glass melting and sol-gel methods. Hydroxyapatite crystalline phase was developed in the heat treated glass sample. A nanostructured hydroxyapatite was obtained following the sol-gel synthesis route after drying at 110oC. The structure and thermal behaviour were investigated by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses.
