  Abstract:  The Hall effect refers to the difference in electrical potential on the opposite sides of an electrical conductor through which an electric current is flowing, created by a magnetic field applied perpendicularly to the current. This potential is also referred to as the Hall voltage as it was first measured by Edwin Hall in 1879.
