  Abstract:  The paper approaches the psychological aspects of the concept of phantasia in Franz Brentano’s lecture Ausgewählte Fragen aus Psychologie und Ästhetik, taught in 1885/86. Our study establishes that, in spite of the title, Brentato’s analysis of phantasia does not merely concearn the aesthetic meaning of this representation, but it is instead a preliminary approach for the aesthetic disccusion.
