  Abstract:  EU-Helsinki Group on Gender in Research and Innovation. Development, Mandate, Structures and Prospectives. This article tends to present the EU-Helsinki Group on Gender in Research and Innovation, former EU-Helsinki Group on Women and Science, as an important and far-reaching instrument for the implementation of gender equity within the European research area. Since 1999 the group is working on the field of statistical data production and dissemination, exchange of experiences, advising the EU-Commission and developing contributions in order to reach a better and sustainable gender balance within the research institutions.
