Abstract: New Masculinities, Old Racism: ‹Gipsy›-Stereotypes and Gay Hegemonic Masculinity. The following paper analyses, based on Raewyn Connells concept of Hegemonic Masculinity (1995), the power structures between the gay white and Roma-characters in the novel Erwarte mich in Paris by S.A. Urban (2013). It points out how, as homosexuality is widely accepted in Western society, homophobia as an undesirable phenomenon is projected on Roma people to consolidate a hegemonic white gay masculinity. Keywords: Masculinities, Queer Studies, Antiziganism, Intersecionality, Cultural Studies, German Literature, Sociology of Literature, Light Fiction
