Abstract:  Linear, hierarchical and “deep” segmentations. The article is meant to demonstrate that, besides linear and hierarchical segmentation which are most frequently mentioned in the models of speech segmentations, it seems that the speakers instinctively perform one which we call “profound”/deep segmentation. The organization at such deep level is of a heterarchical type, considering that the producer and recipient of the discourse are supposed to manage, simultaneously, information of different types, including all ingredients of the communication situation: description of the “world”, interpersonal relations, subjectivity, formulation and reformulation operations, polyphony, meta-discourse, presuppositions, etc. We are attempting to demonstrate this hypothesis with the help of semantic markers in the first place, but also with the help of prosodic and of discursive markers, etc.

Key words: segmentation, discourse heterogeneity, discursive operations, acts, grammatical integration, discursive markers.
