Louis-Philippe Dalembert est un écrivain haïtien d’expression française et créole qui s’empare de sujets historiques et sociaux. À titre d’exemple, il explore la condition des déportés lors de la Traite négrière, avec son roman L’autre face de la mer (1998), ou il traite du rôle joué par le peuple haïtien pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale dans Avant que les ombres s’effacent (2017). Dans la même direction, mais prenant cette fois-ci une position plus engagée, avec Mur Méditerranée, paru en 2019, Dalembert pratique une écriture d’urgence sur le thème de la migration contemporaine.
