Abstract:  The purpose of this study is to highlight the presence of two fundamental co-ordinates of collective imagination: the diurnal side and the nocturnal one, as they re updated in Pierre Corneill’s play, “L’Illusion comique”. Although considered to be the author of the French classicism, through this theatre play Corneille carries out the purest form of the baroque, by the adherence to the “mundus imaginalis” of this artistic genre. The analysis of the “mundus imaginalis” is carried out on two levels: the formal one, regarding the construction of the thetre play (theatre within theatre) as well as the one of the content, noting the isotopies of the two terms of the diurnal and the nocturnal.
