  Abstract:  Fragments of an unpublished correspondence between G. Rohlfs and G. D. Serra. From the correspondence between the two important protagonists of the Romance philology of the last century, the German Rohlfs and the Italian G.D. Serra, it comes out not only a huge interest for the development of this science, but also their human dimension, manifested in various situation. The contemporary reader has the possibility to understand that those high spirits of their time could appreciate each other, could help each other and contribute, through mutual efforts, to the development of the science to which they were totally dedicated.
