Abstract:  Echoes of Croce’s Thought in Romanian Culture. B. Croce and M. Dragomirescu. The article is a case study meant to illustrate the relationship established between the Italian philosopher, Benedetto Croce, and his Romanian contemporary, Mihail Dragomirescu. Not only is the Romanian scholar acquainted with Croce’s work, but the widely-renowned Italian philosopher, too, stays abreast of the work of Dragomirescu, partly because the Romanian critic was one of the very few scholars to enjoy a certain illustriousness abroad, for some of his works had been published in France. The two had met in 1931, in Budapest, and, under the guise of epistolary correspondence, had immediately established a professional and scientific dialogue which lasted until the break of the Second World War, not to mention that in the foot notes to the volume entitled La poesia, Croce explicitly mentioned the work of our critic.

Key-words: aesthetics, the concept of masterpiece, psycho-physical world
