Abstract:  The Problems of Identity in the Poetry of Moses Rosenkranz and Rose Ausländer. The present paper is an analysis on the role of identity in the poetry of two poets from Bukowina, Moses Rosenkranz and Rose Ausländer. The problem of identity plays a major role in the poetry of the German-speaking Jewish population of Bukowina. Moses Rosenkranz and Rose Ausländer were born in this region, which at that time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. They chose German to be the language of their poetry. The crisis of identity is the common subject of their poetry, in this they both react to the terror, that the Jewish population experienced throughout the 20th century, although the conventional, traditional style of Moses Rosenkranz has not much in common with the much more modern, expressionist tone of Rose Ausländer.
