Abstract:  „Hardly anywhere else beautiful women are allowed to be so impertinent“ . The Orgeluse episode in Wolframs von Eschenbach Parcival. The central character of this article is the ducess Orgeluse von Logroys of the mediaeval novel Parcival by Wolfram von Eschenbach. The analysis is primarily concerned with the conception of Orgeluse von Logroys (her aggressive language, her Minnedienst, her vengeful behaviour). On one hand the reasons for such an exceptional female character are considered, as well as her criticism on the Arthurian society (a society based on minne-relationships and the resulting conflicts), on the other hand the “emancipated” Orgeluse is regarded to be an example of a new female role in literary fiction and thereby gives an answer to violence implied in minne.
