Abstract:  „The analysis of the Romanian verses in Clemens Brentano´s short novel ´Die mehreren Wehmüller und ungarischen Nationalgesichter´”. Brentano’s short novel (1817) contains a song with Romanian verses sung by the gypsy figure Mitidika, accompanied by her brother Mihaly. The representation of Romantic Gypsy figures at Brentano is based on mostly written and for the most part literary sources. Ethnographical treatises were the imagological background for Gypsy figures such as Mitidika and Mihaly or Goethe’s Mignon. Among the numerous studies of Brentano’s short novel there are two “Romanian” contributions, which complete the present perspective, by instancing the Romanian verses and such the geographical extension of these Gypsy figures from one culture to another, which led to the development of an imagological emblem.
