Abstract:  Selection, adaptation and production of materials that will be used during the English for Business classroom are key issues in the process of curriculum development. The processes of curriculum development include needs analysis, setting objectives, development of syllabus, selection, adaptation, production of materials (resources), methodology and evaluation. Once the stages of needs analysis and course design are completed, the next step to take is how to implement the curriculum. It is possible to either resort to existing materials, such as various textbooks by different authors, British or Romanian, or to modify existent materials and to adapt them to the specific learning situations, or to compile ones own teaching materials. Most of the times though, the solution is a complementarity between selection and production, adaptation in itself being a combination of the previous two. It is essential for teachers to be able to evaluate correctly the materials they use and thus devise the best methods to improve them and to put them to their best use.
