  Article:   FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY IN THE NEW MILLENIUM.

  Abstract:  Food quality and safety for the public health has became a very important problem in the last part of the XX`s century. The studies concerning the food quality and safety in the new millenium represent the motivation of the knowledge and the application of some new principles in food security. In this summary were emphasized the conditions which imposed the elaboration of this concepts in the EU and in the White Paper on food safety standards. There are also presented the principles, which have an important roll in the EU food politics transformations in an active, dynamic and coherent instrument, in a comprehensive and integrated vision, trying in this way to protect and promotion the human health. The European Food Authority, with attributions in 2002, has as a role the supervision of the food safety along the entire food chain and also has to inform the consumers concerning the major risks on their own health.
