  Abstract:  La mise en vigueur du Code civil et du Code de commerce néerlandais de 1838 termina une période de troubles où le désir et le besoin de l`unification du droit se sont manifestés. Le Code civil néerlandais datant de 1838 fut fortement inspiré de son exemple français, entré en vigueur dans les années 1810-1813 où les Pays-Bas furent annexés par la France. A l`issue de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, le temps était propice au projet de réforme du Code civil, lancé en 1938 à l’initiative du Professeur E.M. Meijers.
