Abstract:  Structuring of International B2B Contracts for the Purchase of Goods as Seen from the Perspective of a Rumanian Contract Partner The essay illustrates the importance of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods ("CISG") for structuring such contracts. It conveys information about when this convention applies and how its application can be contractually agreed or excluded. In addition, the advantages of the CISG are emphasized as a uniform body of inter-national law that has become effective for 69 countries as compared to agreements based on national laws on the sale of goods. This is followed by a brief description of CISG based con-tracting. Also, the question is answered how gaps are closed that remain in the regulatory con-tent of the CISG. Finally, the obligations of the seller and of the buyer are explained as well as legal remedies in the event of a breach of contract. The discourse is a real-life approach based on practical experience offering information about tools, such as the CD-ROM of the „Handbook of International Sale of Goods – CISG“ that can provide practical assistance in structuring, negotiating and managing contracts under the CISG. The handbook and the CD-ROM guarantee effective knowledge transfer by means of the fr_elearning_tool, which is also contained on the CD-ROM.
