  Abstract:  Le régime dotal dans le droit ancien et dans le Code civil roumain. Le mot dot, bien qu’il a une étimologie latine, s’est répandu en roumain presque simultanément avec la réception des langues romaniques modernes. Pourtant, l’institution qu’il désigne était connue dans l’ancien droit roumain par le synonyme parfait «zestre». Ce dernier mot a une origine géto-dace claire, la présence de la vocabule en roumain atèste le fait que l’importance de l’institution n’a était pas du tout diluée après la conquête romaine.
