  Abstract:  În 1999, Facultatea de Drept a Universităţii din Salzburg, Austria a obţinut o finanţare Erasmus pentru organizarea în cei patru ani subsecvenţi a unei şcoli de vară pe tema dreptului privat european. Iniţiativa a aparţinut d-lui. Michael Rainer, profesor de drept roman şi drept privat comparat în instituţia menţionată, secondat de d-na. profesoară Johanna Filip-Fröschl. I s-au alăturat în demararea acestui proiect d-nii. Pascal Ancel, profesor de drept civil la Universitatea „Jean Monet” din St. Etienne, Franţa şi David Pugsley, comparatist şi profesor de drept roman la Universitatea din Exeter, Anglia.
