Abstract:  Quartz is one of the most important industrial raw materials used for ceramics, glass, mortar, etc. Its suitability and technological qualities are directly connected to the chemical composition (SiO2 and iron oxides). The technology of the feldspar processing applied in the case of the quartzo-feldspatic rocks from the Bedeciu deposit involves a stage of quartz flotation and separation. This paper focuses on the technological, chemical, mineralogical and particle size distribution of quartz separated by flotation with the object of using it in various industrial products. The Bedeciu deposit is located at the border between two major structural units, the Gilău Mountains and the Huedin Basin (included within the Transylvanian Depression), in the northern part of the contact area between intrusive rocks (the Muntele Mare granite) and crystalline schists of the metamorphic Someş series. The main stages of the preparation technology consist of coarse (< 60 mm) and fine grinding (< 0.9 mm), followed by the 1st flotation stage (for the separation of micas and Fe-containing minerals) and the 2nd flotation stage (for the separation of feldspars). The drying, deferrisation, and packaging close the preparation cycle. ...
