  Article:   THE SETTLEMENTS NETWORK FROM CIUC WITHIN TERRITORY OF HARGHITA COUNTY.

  Abstract:  The Settlements Network from Ciuc Region within Territory of Harghita County. The paper deals with the system of settlements in Harghita County. There are 3 distinguished regions in the County: Odorhei, Giurgeu and Ciuc regions. They are distingnished by the size of the settlements as well as by the socio-historical factors, that is the rate of urban or rural population. In the Ciuc region the rate of urban population (47%) overpasses the rate of other zones. The Ciuc zone can be divided into 5 subzones (Upper Ciuc, Middle Ciuc, Lower Ciuc, Casin, Ghimes), where the settlements axes are determined by the hydrographic network and by the ways of communications. The defined subzones must be taken into consideration at the geographical regionalization, as well as at the decisions concerning the organization and development of the settlements.
