  Abstract:  

Bârsana Monastery, a Gem among the Wooden Buildings of Maramureş, Romania. Bârsana monastery was reestablished after the fall of Romanian communism, emphasizing the art of woodcraft in the „Country of Maramureş”. Through the great number and originality of its pieces, all wooden, the Bârsana complex is the most representative and the most valuable site of its kind in Romania.
