  Article:   THE URBAN INFLUENCE AREAS IN THE HILLS OF SILVANIA (NORTH-WESTERN PART OF ROMANIA).

  Abstract:  The Urban Influence in the Hills of Silvania (North-Western Part of Romania). The studied region constitutes the northern compartment of the Western Hills, making the transition between the Transylvania Depression and the Western Plain of Romania. The regions with an urbane influence from the Silvania Hills and those situated in the neighbouring zones (Baia Mare, Satu Mare, Oradea, Şimleul Silvaniei) cover only 42 % from the territory (as compared with 60 % at the national level), whence results a relatively accented rural character of this region. From the territories with an urbane influence, only 57 % belong to the towns of the region, the areas polarized by the towns situated in the neighbourhood occupying important coterminous surfaces. The regions with urbane influence comprise half of the number of rural settlements from Crasna Hills and 55 % from the rural population. Zalău is the single town of the region�s towns with a more significant and a better outlined influence. The density of the population in the influence zones of the autochthonous towns (50 inh./km2) indicates their reduced demographical firmness and explains in a great measure the high values of the ratio between the population of the towns and the population of the influence zones (between 0,8 and 1,1 in the small towns and almost 2 at Zalău).
