Abstract:  Some Aspects of Water Quality in Small Someş Basin. The matter of quality depends on a significant number of elements with mineral and organic content, generalized through physical-chemical and biological terms, whose thoroughly pursuit require a complex analysis and expression. For this reason an option to study only some of these conditions was made, respectively the temperature of water, the dissolved oxygen, pH, total hardness and the suspension. On their basis, of course having in view the other indicators, it can be appreciated that the superior basin of Small Someş, which gathers its waters from the north-eastern part of Apuseni Mountains, wholly arranged by the presence of the four retentions (Fântânele, Tarniţa, Someşul Cald şi Gilău), has a water of superior quality, used on a large scale for population’s water supply, while the tributaries, which descend from Cluj Hills, Dej Hills and Transylvania Plain, have a water of a lower quality, together with very reduced flows.
