Abstract:  Zarand Depression. The Structure of the Population on Sexes. During the last century, the analyses on sex structure of population emphases a number of oscillations characterized by an increase in women’s number till 1966 followed by a slight decrease in 1992 (even then their proportion was still higher than man’s). Males’ predominance at the 1910 census proves the poor economic development in this area where women got involved (next to men) in tiring activities for their bodies. Early marriages, pregnancy interruption through empirical means and a higher number of baby-boys than the one of baby-girls also caused this phenomenon. Since 1966 - when the difference between the two sexes reached the highest level -, women have represented the majority. There was a decrease in women’s number in 1992, but they have continued to be the majority.
