Abstract:   Since March 2013, tens of thousands of refugees fleeing the civil war in Central African Republic landed in Cameroon where they occupy "more than 308 sites spread over an area of over 50,000 square kilometers" (The UN Refugee Agency). While we would expect that journalists covering this presence do empathize practicing citizen journalism that may alert the public both nationally and internationally on such a humanitarian crisis, thematic analysis and content of articles in the Cameroonian daily from mid-March 2013 and April 2014, have instead found that most of these publications dealt with security and social incidents "minor" -but largely amplified by newspapers- and stigmatize them. This predominance of the subject of security is due to the structure and logic of functioning of national media « champ » whose effects on the treatment of the issue of refugees were numerous.
