Abstract:   In the French and German media system, regional televisions play a key role in the information close to the viewers. Yet in regions close to the borders, the information should be more broadcasting news about the european neighbours. Two regional medias are analysed thanks to a structure and a content hermeneutical analyses in both France and Germany, in the first one in the North of France, neighbouring Belgium and the UK and in Central and East Germany, close to Poland and the Czech Republic. The regional televisions do produce European content and even show a will in « doing European », but they locally tend to adopt the viewers’ negative approach towards the EU. The maps of the regions or the countries play a didactic role for the viewers. Nethertheless, the qualitative approach of this research shows an actual will to promote a positive EU image amongst regional viewers, especially regarding cross-border cooperation.
