Abstract:  Human Rights and the Eastern European Churches. The aim of the present article is to analyse the attitude of the Eastern European Churches towards Human Rights principles. The Orthodox Churches are still disagreeing with some fundamental conceptions of minorities rights or Human Rights when it comes of individual rights and liberties because of men’s peccability according to the church. Traditionally the Eastern European Churches have a close relationship to the state showing a certain flexibility in dealing with it which is not always in favour of the citizen.

Key words: Human Rights, Eastern‐European Churches, Eastern Europe, state, communism
