Abstract:  The Integration of Poland in NATO and the European Union. Reflection on social behaviour. Poland’s accession to Euro‐Atlantic structures and the European Union was a breakthrough in the transformation from communism towards parliamentary democracy. However, the Polish public opinion was divided in their views of these accessions. The article, based on public opinion surveys from the period of 1989‐2004, presents the attitude of Polish people towards NATO and EU accession. While NATO accession was enthusiastically supported, integration with European Union countries was met simultaneously with hope and skepticism.

Keywords: Poland, NATO, European Union, accession, public opinion.
