Les nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication (NTIC) sont en train de bouleverser nos pratiques communicationnelles. La communication semble devenir un principe métaphysique: tout objet communique avec tout autre objet, car ils sont en relation et de surcroît en interaction à distance. La métaphore de la « toile d’araignée » n’a jamais été de plus grande actualité, depuis l’arrivée des NTIC. Dans ce nouveau monde communicationnel (communicatio mundi), le statut de l’homme devient ambigu. Le dialogue (comme processus créateur, libre, ouvert et imprévisible, propre à l’homme) s’avère transposé sinon réduit à une simple communication enfermée dans l’échange parfaitement contrôlé d’informations. Ainsi progrès, pouvoir, magie et utopie se donnent la main dans une coalition menaçant la liberté de la parole humaine. C’est un processus de terreur communicationnelle où il n’y a plus de place pour l’éthique.
