Abstract:  This year (28-30 June) at Babeş-Bolyai University, Faculty of European Studies there took place a series of conferences under the generic title “Renegotia¬ting Social Identities in Post-Socialist Eastern Europe”. The discussions tried to redefine concepts like power, ethnic identity, feminism, global development etc. This event was organised by the Institute for Cultural Anthropology (Faculty of European Studies, Cluj), the Interdisciplinary Group for Gender Studies (Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj), the Foundation Desire (Cluj) and the Visual Anthropology Foundation (Sibiu). The participants engaged themselves in a genuine intercultural dialogue and the presentations were in many cases focused on the concrete reality, sustained by statistics, without neglecting the critical thinking.
