Abstract:  A Traces’ Dramaturgy. The Process of Adaptation in Contemporary Dance. The idea of this article would be an analyse of the concept of dramaturgy in contemporary dance. When a dance disappears, a traces’ dramaturgy remains and become a text for the new adaptations. In the first part of the paper, some process of dance rewriting are presented in two artistic contexts: in the classical dance, using the notion of repertoire; in the contemporary dance, when a choreographer decide to make an adaptation of one of his past works. In a second part, the example of After all…, by Vava Ştefănescu will be analysed as a choreographic adaptation of a trace’s dramaturgy. The absence of the original dance is the birth of a text whom become a new original choreography in every new embodiment by a dancer, like the dance of Carmen Coţofană about Ştefănescu’s traces.

Keywords: dance as text, dramaturgy, the trace and the forgetting, Vava Ştefănescu, After all…, contemporary dance
