Article:   CONCERNING THE LYRICAL BODY’S THEATRICALITY / DE LA THEATRALITE DU CORPS LYRIQUE.

Authors:  ANNE-LAETITIA GARCIA.

Abstract:  I herewith propose a few reflections on the lyrical interpreter’s body theatricality. As an art of exacerbated voices and passions, opera imposes onto the stage a different body – alien to daily life – suited to the character’s exhibition, a performing body. Theatricality then adheres closely to a posture, that of frontality.

Keywords: theatricality of the body, opera, Callas, performing body
