THE AESTHETICS OF THEATRE AND THE PIONEERING OF PURE THEATRE. Authors: PETRE BĂCIOIU. |
||||||
Abstract: The Aesthetics of Theatre and the Pioneering of Pure Theatre aims to define the innovative ways taken by the language of modern theatre. Starting from Adolphe Appia’a aesthetics, the author searches for the triumph of the corporeal forms over inanimate forms through which scenic life is created. By joining the art of sound and that of corporality, one can speak of the initiation of the living work of art. The recourse to the origins is seen, according to Artaud’s conception, as a fundamental point of reference for the pure theatre and as a rejection of the psychological theatre. At the same time, there are several considerations concerning the role and the function of physicality in theatre, as a pure theatrical means, through which the preoccupation connected to the corporeal interpretation becomes dominant. Keywords: pure theatre, Antonin Artaud, physicality |
