Article:   BITS AND PIECES - HISTORY OF CINEMA CRITICISM.

Authors:  RALUCA IACOB.

  Abstract:

Raluca Iacob graduated the Journalism Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences at the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj, and now she is writing her final MA thesis at the Theatre and Television Faculty of the same university. Her interests in theatre and, most of all, film criticism, in the straight relationship between the history of filmic discourses and the analyses and critical discourses about cinema, are proved by the article below. The role of movie criticism - the author tries to demonstrate - it is not to address to the persons interested in cinema only, but to create interest in people who don’t usually go to the cinema. So the movie critics today have to address, understand and try to convince not only the people that are already cinema fans, but especially those who have no interest in the medium, and who are more ignorant in deciding and choosing movies than the people who have a good grip on the cinema industry. This is a challange both for the audiences and journalists/mediators, and her to be carefully considered.
