Complexes of Co(II) with tridentate (ONO) Schiff bases have been prepared in the reaction of Co(II) acetate, ethanolamine and 5-X salicylaldehyde (X= Br, Cl) in nitrogen atmosphere. Bis(2-hydroxyethylimino) methyl)-4-bromo¬phenolato)cobalt(II) and bis(2-hydroxyethylimino)methyl)-4-chlorophenolato) cobalt(II) were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry.
