	Abstract: Perovskite compound PbVO₃ was synthesized under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. In this paper we report a new set of milder reaction conditions in which PbVO₃ can still be prepared. The effect of the synthesis parameters on phase purity is analysed. The crystalline structure of samples was characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. Rietveld analysis of X-ray powder diffraction pattern revealed that the material stabilized in a tetragonal perovskite phase. Keywords: PbVO₃, high pressure – high temperature synthesis, XRD
