Abstract:  Zn-TiO2 nanocomposite films were successfully formed on carbon steel by rapid plating from a ZnSO4-based bath (i = 10 A dm−2). The corrosion resistance of the composite coatings was studied by polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. In the presence of TiO2, simultaneously with the negative shift of the corrosion potential, a decrease of the corrosion current density was observed as compared to pure zinc coatings, reflecting the beneficial effect of TiO2 nanoparticles on the corrosion resistance of zinc coatings.
