Abstract:  Professor K. Januszek’s book appeared as No. 250 of the Scientific Studies of the Agricultural Academy in Cracow (Zeszyty Naukowe Akademii Rolniczej im. H. Kollataja w Krakowie). It represents a syn-thetic description of the soil enzymological investigations conducted by the Author in the 1985-1997 period. Soils of 23 forest stands located in southern Poland were studied. Activities of several enzymes parti-cipating in the biogeochemical cycles of C, N and P (dehydrogenase, invertase, protease, urease, phosphatase) were determined. The enzyme analyses were accompanied by chemical analyses and the analytical data were evaluated statistically.
