Abstract:  PS II Photosystem Sensibility to Excitation Pressure, Correlated with Nonphotochemical Dissipation of Excitation Energy at the Green Alga Chlorella fusca. Excitation presure effects on PS II, correlated with the nonphotochemical dissipation of excitation energy and the violaxanthin de-epoxidation, after different exposure times and light intensities is presented. Light intensities have increased the proportion of open reaction centers. 2000 μmol. m-2. s-1 and 3000 μmol. m-2. s-1 light has determined to the increasing of QA in reduced state, while 2500 μmol. m-2. s-1 light has significantly reduced their quantity. The excitation presure increased with the light exposure time. The nonphotochemical dissipation of excitation energy has been intensified in relation with light intensity and with the increasing of light exposure times. A linear positive correlation between violaxanthin de-epoxidation activity and the nonphotochemical dissipation of excitation energy (NPQ) was observed. The xanthophyll cycle pigments had a particular response with respect to light intensities.
