Abstract:  The definitions of the human being are multiple in the field of contemporary philosophy. There are many divergent answers for the Kantian question ‘What is the human being?’ This text tries to overcome the different views of philosophical anthropology, focusing on some topics grouped around the idea of liberty. Liberty and non-liberty, corporeality, imagination and world are some points of reflection for understanding human being. Considering some of the contemporary philosophical challenges (Heidegger and Baudrillard), this study tries to understand what is the human being from an orthodox theological perspective.
