  Abstract:

In the last years, it has been noticed that the number of airplanes that have „visited” the International airport of Cluj-Napoca is disturbingly increasing. The aim of the study is to show what kind of movement is noisier: the landing or the take-off. This study presents the level of sound pressure that people who live near the airport have to bear. It refers to the comparison of the emitted noise of three different airplanes, at landing and take-off, near the airport. Every measurement was taken in three places: one placed beneath the flight path and the others two on one side and another. The airplane noise was recorded for 20 seconds, time for the aircraft to cross over the measuring places at landing and take-off.

Key words: noise pollution, aircraft noise, airport, landing, take-off, dB
