Abstract:  It was prepared few benthonite rocks from Valea Chioarului. Different granulation of montmorillonite compound was separated and studied by TEM microscopy, X ray diffraction, thermo differential analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. Cyclic voltammograms for the carbon paste electrode doped with clay in the presence of Cd2+ and Pb2+ on the synthetic solution was registered. The calibration curves registered for Pb2+ and Cd2+ using square wave voltammetry on the film composite electrode containing PEI and clay indicate that the electrodes are sensible and present a good linearity in the domain of low concentrations (10ppb-50ppb).

Key words: clay minerals, modified electrode
