Rezumat:  Romanian Orthodox Clergy who suffered during the First World War. Shortly after the beginning of the First World War, the Romanian Orthodox clergy was the target of the German and Austro-Hungarian conquering armies; this attitude was not fortuitous, because along the time the Romanian Orthodox clergy who came from the simple faithful people were always in the middle of the people and besides them in moments of suffering but also in moments of fulfillments; they have actually identified with aspirations for freedom, justice and national unity. Except the horrors of the war, that had unfortunate effects upon the entire Romanian people, many Romanians among which also Orthodox clergy died, were mistreated, were sent to jails, arrested, deported, and were forced to take refuge to other lands. The sacrifices of the clergy and of the Romanian Orthodox faithful people during the First World War are considered to be heroic deeds of our people, but at the same time also deeds of Christian martyrdom.
