  Rezumat:  Considerations on the Role of School in Social Mobility. The author reconsider some of the ideas of his PhD thesis, sustained in 1977 in Sorbonne with professor Raymond Boudon, about the relationship between school and social mobility. It is argued that this specific topic – although not appealing for sociologists these days as it was in the ‘50-‘70 – has a remarkable high stake for contemporary sociological research given the fact that the problem of inequality/equality or the problem of social chances will be always a matter of debate or of comparative studies. The author states the thesis he sustained three decades ago are still standing, even in the lights of the new theories or new empirical findings.
